Sharpen your Style

Sharpen your Style

When we joined together midwestern Henckels knife reps,  Freschstyle stylists & an abstract artist, the recipe turned out to be a bit of a fashion/cutlery delight with a dash of  unassuming and versatile characters.

The painter stole the show, the stylists distressed some jeans, and The Panhandler showed off his professional knife techniques.

The Panhandler’s Daughter welcomes back Kathy Hunt, who participated in our Demonstration & Conversations series back in 2013 while promoting her then new cookbook, Fish Market. Highlighting Kathy’s Sardine Spread in this tribute to our father was a no brainer – we ate sardines all the time growing up.  The best was at home on toasted, seeded rye with crisp lettuce and a squirt of lemon.  Not so great, was when it was our “brown bag” lunch back in elementary school – while they still tasted delicious it was perfect fodder for teasing classmates, mostly by boys.

In the first of what we hope to become a special series honoring our father, The Panhandler’s Daughter hosts Jeremy Marshall as he prepares Toro Tuna Tartare with Shitake Mushrooms and Peppercress in a Truffle Soy Sauce. Shortly after opening in 1996, Aquagrill quickly became our favorite oyster bar, the place we would congregate for our weekly Sunday family dinner. Jeremy with his wife Jennifer have created a restaurant that serves the finest of seafood dishes Manhattan has to offer while maintaining a casual, unpretentious atmosphere complete with a mix of eccentric and friendly staff that are at their professional peak.
